Positivity @ work
Perbetulkan ibadah: Elak solat lambat, tukar set surah2 dlm solat, bacaan betul dlm solat supaya lebih focus n khusyuk. Amik wudhu' pun betul2 tp tak bazir.
Perbanyakkan ibadah extra: Banyak lagi solat sunat Tati! Rajin plis! Baca Quran banyakn lagi! Amalkan zikir byk lagi!
Bangun pagi lagi awal.
Kalau Mak bebel diam and angguk n senyum aje. She knows BETTER.
Jangan suka menjawab. Kalau tak ada benda baik nak cakap, diam aje.
Kalau terasa dengan siapa2, buat tak endah je. Elakkan pening sorang2.
Pengurusan duit yang lebih baik supaya lebih banyak duit.

3 months of introduction and a month of distance is all it takes for us to find each other.

And that's what I get when I surrender my heart to Allah The Maker, who made me the way I am - a Muslim, a daughter, a girl with mixed emotions and confused feelings but was called to calmness and ease when she realizes that He is The Forgiver, The All-Knowing, The Provider, and she was never to question Him for He is The Majestic. She believed that He is The Hidden as He twisted things for her to test her yet again and made everything seemed bad and hurtful, yet the twist was indeed a blessing in disguise for BOTH of them, for He is unquestionably The Most Wise.

I believe that every harshness that we face in life, ease will come at the end of it. And everytime ease comes to us, harshness will follow. But however hard or easy life can be for us, never forget that Allah is always there and waiting, ever so forgiving and always listening.

A line from Placebo’s Blind I’m listening to the whole day. Well, not really the whole day, but most of my free time for today. At first I related this song to someone I just lost, but then again, why would I ponder about someone who has left me? They never cared to stay. So why bother? I should care more about the ones who are here in my life, always available for me – for better or for worse, my friends, my family and God and the most important person, my Mother, whom I call Mak.

I just can’t imagine my life without her. What would I be? Who do I come back home to? With whom do I share my happy thoughts, happy news, bad news, my worst thoughts, my worries? I know it’s sinful to wonder too much about the future as much as it is sinful to linger in the past, but truthfully, without Mak, I would be half dead. She IS my other half. I just can’t imagine.

It would be surprising to some of you if I tell you that I became so close to Mak only two years back. It was all because of a huge relationship breakup I had, with my first love. You see, I’ve been through several relationships before the Huge Breakup, but none of them matched the one I broke 2 years ago. And that was when I knew that there was no one I could rely on fully, other than her. And I was right. Mak was surprisingly supportive. She listened attentively to everything I told her, she didn’t even laugh (or so I thought she would, because I thought that she would just consider me going through another episode of that ‘puppy love’ drama kids would face in their lives) and gave me the advices. Those advices she poured onto me; they were gold. To just hear her voice was enough sometimes. And her words became my cure. And to tell you the truth, she didn’t believe herself doing so too! She said, “I’ve never done this before with my other children, you know. Talking about things like this (relationships, heartbreaks) with you is something new to me”. I guess we (my brother and sisters) never knew Mak that well to trust her and share with her everything. Ironic, isn’t it?

The more I talk and open up to her, the more I feel confident with myself because I know I have her, always, for now. She would always give the best advice. The sort you (or, maybe it’s just me) are hungry of. She will ALWAYS bring me back to religion, to God, to being modest in my actions, my words, my thoughts. Maybe Mak knows me well enough to give all the advice. She knows too well that I’m not one of her very patient child – that’s for sure.

I guess all I can do is pray for her wellbeing and happiness and to have all the blessings from Allah and hope I will never do foolish things to ever hurt or disappoint her. To lose her is never an option in my life, but who am I to make such decisions? Even Mak is Allah’s, and He can take her away, just like He took Ayah, anytime He wants, whenever He wants, whether I like it or not, whether I’m ready or not. SubhanAllah.

Aku dan Sabar

Sabar ni susah rupanya. Susah sangat-sangat. Tu sebab siapa yang sabar sungguh-sungguh sampai boleh masuk syurga, dapat pengiktirafan hebat dari Allah dan RasulNya. Aku adalah salah seorang manusia dalam dunia ni yang memandang sabar sebagai sesuatu yang agak sukar untuk dipraktikkan, untuk wujud dalam diri aku. Dan masalah tak sabar ni sampai menyusahkan diri aku sendiri, menyakitkan diri aku sendiri, merugikan diri sendiri. Haih. Astaghfirullah hal azhim.

Bila dah terkena, bila dah terasa kerugian, baru tersentak.

Rasanya kena perbaiki lagi hubungan dengan Allah, banyak baca buku-buku yang bagus.

And kurangkan buku-buku self-help Mat Salleh yang merepek2 tu.

Dan sentiasa merelakan apa yang berlaku.

Ive got 2 news for myself. Good and bad. Let's start with the good one 1st:

Yay!! Mr S tak marah lagiiii... :D We're all good and happy and all lovey-dovey again! Alhamdulillah. I've been waiting for like, 8 days for this? Haishh... Tahan je lama2 merajuk. Hello? I miss him like, like.. Ntah. But I miss the dude so much sampai nanges kat Liy on the phone malam tadi. Boleh? Ngade.

And the bad news is:

Mr S has got his new Macbook Pro, replacing his long time Mac (G4 kot). That's good news jugak la of course. But when he's got his Macbook Pro, he gets to do all the free-lance jobs he's been getting - like, loads of 'em. That means he's gonna be Mr Super-Bz-S. And that means no dating-dating. And that means we have to curi-curi masa to have drinks, (or maybe) meals together. Owh well... Nak buat macam mana. I love him. He loves me. Got some sacrifices to do, of course. This is what he wants to do, so better support him. Jumpa banyak2 pun tak elok. Kan? Kan? But I'll pray everything will go smoothly for us, inshaAllah. Ni baru test sikit je; takleh jumpa selalu. Belum dugaan besar2 lagi. InshaAllah we're gonna do fine. Please Allah 1st, kena ingat tu selalu.

It's a Saturday and I'm at the office now. Trying to finish my delayed work.
Boring. But I have to do it anyway. Kalau tak kena jerit Monday ni.

Planning The (small) Business

Salaam.

It's been quite a while since I posted a proper-written blog. The reason is quite the same, as usual. I have a whole truck-load of stuff to spill but there is always no appropriate timing. I can't seem to sit down and blog quietly. Always running around chasing stuff, or I may be sitting quietly in front of the PC, but doing something else - either designing a page on Photoshop/Illustrator, or developing a simple site using Dreamweaver, or maybe just updating on-air schedules online, or plain replying damn fooking emails. Haih...

But good good news ahead now! Ehehe ^^

Aku nak announce yang aku nak start an online business! Hehe.. Eksaited gile babs dah ni! Dah lama sangat aku plan business ni tapi tak jalan-jalan, entah kenapa. Maybe sebab tak berani pun ya, tak ada masa yang cukup nak berjalan cari product aku, macam-macam la kan alasan. Aku pun tak taula.

Macam-macam jenis ketakutan dalam kepala otak aku ni. Takut takde orang nak beli la, takut rugi la, takut orang tak suka la. Hmm... aku rasa tu biasa la kot, kan? Ada ja nak jatuhkan keyakinan kita untuk maju atau cuba sesuatu yang baru dan bermanfaat. Kenapa kali ni aku macam nekad sangat ni? Aku rasa mungkin sebab aku tak suka niat yang baik ni dipendam lama-lama. Dah setahun dah umur idea nak berniaga online ni. Tak salah kalau aku start small, kan?

Cuma aku tak tau lagi nak buat blog satu lagi ka untuk The Business? Hmmm... Kalau boleh takmau la campur aduk business and personal stuff. Dalam blog ni aku tulis pasal diri aku. But still, I haven't decided yet, whether to have a brand new space for my small business.

As for now, I'm still hunting for items: Female Accesories. Rasanya semua item yang ada kait-mengait dengan aksesori perempuanlah. Pehtu, cita-cita aku memang nak jual barang-barang yang aku sendiri suke sangat. InshaAllah la... Sat nanti kalau taste aku tak sama ngan taste hangpa, tak jadi jugak kan?

So, itula yang aku plan kan sekarang. Semoga aku mampu update progressThe Business kat korang semua, dan semoga The Business ni memberi banyak ilmu dan manfaat kepada aku jugak.

Ni cerita minggu lepas sebenarnya. Nak jugak updet, TAK kIRA!! hahaha. Ni akibat tak boleh nak tido, walaupun masa tu tak sihat dan badan letih. Aku pon bersimpuh kat depan almari DVD housemate aku dan meneliti cerita2 best untuk aku pinjam dan tengok. Housemate aku memang banyak DVD yang... errr, ada yang best, ada yang merapu je. Tapi cool la, cuz dia beli je ape yang dia rasa nak tengok.

Nak tau cerita apa aku pilih. Hahaha... dah lama tapi aku sukaaaaaaaaa!! Jengjengjeng:

Cerita ni banyak cakap, tapi aku suke dialog diorang. Sangat cool, sempoi, bersahaja, lawak sengal dan comel. Err... bukan untuk budak2 ye. Banyak aksi terlarang dalam ni. Aku dah tengok 3 kali dah termasuk weekend haritu. Aku paling suka time Vincent bawak Mia keluar and babak kena bersihkan darah mamat nigger kat dalam kereta.

I'm sorry but I kinda love movies like this. Cerita lain aku layan, tapi yang ni sangat mengimbau kenangan lama... Korang dah tengok?

I am currently facing a test which involves a huge percent of my emotions and critical thinking. And since I cannot perform my solah, because of my monthly period, I decided to Google for the best times to make du'a. Found it, and it's a pleasure for me to share this with you.

Pada waktu tengah malam terutama sepertiga akhir malam. Sabda Nabi s.a.w

Allah s.w.t turun ke langit dunia apabila tinggal sepertiga malam yang terakhir dan berkata : Ada sesiapa yang memohon kepada-Ku untuk Kumakbulkan , ada sesiapa yang meminta kepada-Ku untuk Kuberikan , ada sesiapa yang beristighfar memohon keampunan untuk Kuampunkan?
(HR Bukhari dan Muslim)

Waktu diantara azan dan iqamah. Sabda Nabi s.a.w

Tidaklah ditolak doa diantara azan dan iqamah.
(HR Al-Tirmizi)

Malam Lailatu Al-Qadar. Malam Al-Qadar berlaku pada bulan Ramadhan. Kemungkinan besar ia berlaku pada 10 malam terakhir bulan Ramadhan berdasarkan kepada beberapa hadis yang menggesa para sahabat mencari malam Al-Qadar pada sepuluh malam terakhir.

Aisyah r.a bertanya kepada Rasulullah s.a.w "Sekiranya saya bertemu dengan Lailatul Qadar , apakah yang perlu say abaca? Jawab Rasulullah s.a.w sebutlah olehmu Ya Allah, sesungguhnya Kamu Maha Pemaaf lagi Maha Mulia . Kamu sukakan kemaafan . Jesteru , maafkanlah aku." (HR Al-Tirmizi, Ibn Majah & Al-Nasa’ie , lihat sahih Al-Tirmizi )

Sepanjang hari Jumaat dengan harapan bersua dengan waktu mustajab doa . Sabda Nabi s.a.w

Pada hari Jumaat itu , ada satu waktu yang apabila seseorang hamba memohon sesuatu kepada Allah , maka akan diberikannya. (HR Bukhari & Muslim )

Sepanjang perjalanan semasa bermusafir. Sabda Nabi s.a.w

Tiga bentuk doa yang dimustajabkan Allah , tidak syak padanya iaitu : Doa orang yang teraniaya , Doa orang yang bermusafir dan Doa ibu bapa terhadap anaknya. ( HR Abu Dawud)

Ketika iman meningkat kerana mentaati Allah. Sabda Nabi s.a.w.

…dan adalah hamba-Ku mendekatkan dirinya kepada-Ku dengan ibadah yang sunat sehingga aku mencintainya. Jika aku sudah mencintainya , aku akan menjadi pendengarannya yang dengannya dia mendengar dan penglihatannya yang dengannya dia melihat dan tangannya yang dengannya dia menyentuh dan kakinya yang dengannya dia melangkah, dan jika dia meminta akan ku berikan , dan jika dia meminta perlindungan nescaya akan kulindungi … HR al-Bukhari ).

Hadis ini menjadi bukti jaminan mustajabnya doa hamba tatkala keimannya memuncak . Ini boleh berlaku dengan beriltizam dengan ketaatan mengerjakan amal ibadah kepada Allah. (Fiqhud Du’a , Bab siapa yang Mustajab Doanya)

Waktu menerima ujian. Allah s.w.t berfirman dalam surah al-Naml ayat 62 , yang bermaksud

Atau siapakah yang memperkenankan doa orang yang menderita apabila ia berdoa kepada-Nya , dan yang menghapuskan kesusahan , serta menjadikan kamu pengganti (umat-umat yang telah lalu ) mendiami dan menguasai bumi ? Adakah sebarang tuhan yang lain bersama-sama Allah ? Amat sedikit antara kamu yang mengingati (nikmat Allah itu ).

Menurut pandangan ulama , dijamin penerimaan doa orang yang menghadapi bebanan ujian kerana biasanya bala yang berlaku menyebabkan timbulnya pasrah dan ikhlas berdoa meminta diselamatkan. (Tafsir al-Qurtubi ,tafsir ayat 62 surah al-Naml)

Ketika ayam berkokok. Nabi s.a.w. bersabda

Apabila kamu mendengar ayam berkokok, maka mohonlah anugerah-Nya kerana ayam itu melihat malaikat. (HR al-Bukhari , Muslim )

Ketika Saat Sedang Hujan
Dari Sahl bin a’ad Radhiyallahu ‘anhu bahawasanya Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam bersabda.

Dua doa yang tidak pernah ditolak ; doa ketika waktu adzan dan doa ketika waktu hujan. (Mustadrak Hakim dan dishahihkan oleh Adz-Dzahabi 2/113-114).

Imam An-Nawawi berkata bahawa penyebab doa pada waktu hujan tidak ditolak atau jarang ditolak ialah kerana pada saat itu sedang turun rahmat khususnya curahan hujan pertama di awal musim. (Fathul Qadir 3/340).

Honestly, the only weapon that I have now is my du'a. I feel helpless and alone, but I cannot let myself sink in that because Shaytaan loves it, and Allah is always there. I believe that Allah listens and He is the Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Never give up Little Tati.

Hadith - Sahih Muslim, Narrated by Abu Hurayrah r.a

Allah's Apostle said:
There are two types, amongst the denizens of Hell, I have yet not seen them. One possessing whips like the tail of an ox and they flog people with them. (The second one) the women who would be naked in spite of their being dressed, who are seduced (to wrong paths) and seduce others with their hair high like humps. These women would not get into Jannah and they would not perceive the odour of Paradise, although its fragrance can be perceived from such and such distance (from great distance).

Women should not put all her hair up on the top of her haid like a camel hump. She may put it up at home as long as some hair lays on her neck still, but not when leaving the house in hijab where the hump can be seen to be under the hijab and drawing attention to her hair.

Kawan-kawan perempuanku,
2 golongan wanita yang Rasulullah SAW tak jumpa lagi tapi Baginda dah sebut (sebab tak berlaku lagi di zaman Baginda) tu adalah kita yang mengamalkan buat sanggul tinggi2 dalam Hijab, na'uzubillah. Tak dapat masuk Surga, bahkan cium bau Syurga pun tak dapat!! Na'uzubillah!! Jadi kawan2, mcmana stylo pun pakai sanggul tinggi2 dalam hijab, jangan buat. Sebab seksa neraka Jahannam lagi dahsyat. Ingat tau kawan2? Aku pun ingatkan diri aku sendiri. Tak tinggi2 sanggul pun tetap cantik dan stylo. InshaAllah :)

Marhaban ya Umar!!

Salaam,

It has been quite a while for the Aziz family since we welcome new members; birth or weddings. As for me personally, I kinda miss having to carry a new baby niece or nephew in my arms. But when my Mother spread the news that my 5th sister was bearing a child, I was psyched!

And so, on 9th March 2010, we celebrated the birth of Umar bin Abu Bakar :) the 23rd member of the Aziz family. I was so excited, but I couldn't find the right time to visit her and the new-born son. She delivered Umar at Serdang Hospital, which is quite far from my workplace - so I was calculating the time; whether to visit her at the hospital, or just wait till this weekend as both the Mother and Baby will be going back to our hometown, Melaka.

But alhamdulillah, He gave me the chance anyway! Last night my sister text me and asked if I could accompany her at the hospital for the nite, as her husband had to stay with their eldest daughter, 5-year old Aisyah at home. I was at the Station's badminton tournament and it was supposed to end at 12.30am, but I went to see my Supervisor, and he immediately agreed to let me go early :)

Went back home, packed my stuff, brought my favourite blanket and my Gebe, and clothes for work the next day and I was off speeding to Serdang Hospital. I asked my sister if she wanted anything for me to bring and she asked for CHeesy Wedges!! Boleh pulakkk... And I was super hungry as I haven't had ANYTHING since lunch, so I went to KFC's drive-thru right after the Sg Besi toll plaza. My sister was asleep when I arrived at her room, but she woke up when she heard me. We had to half-whisper all the time.

I cleaned myself up and changed to my pyjamas, thinking that the baby was at a special room or something. I was getting ready to do my solat when I asked her "Mana baby?" and she replied "Ni la..." and looked behind her. And there I saw Umar, sleeping soundly beside my sister! So small and cute!!!!!

Sorry my handphone camera sucks.

boleh tak perasan si kenit kat sebelah my sister aje. I felt so happy and geram je. Rasa nak picit2. :)

The conversation above is the extract of a much longer conversation I had with a sister I met at this one Islamic talk, held weekly, somewhere in Damansara, which I attended for the 1st time last Sunday. I felt scared OKAY?? - Someone to approach, youfrom nowhere,and offering you something so serious and beautiful, and sacred. I don't have much words to explain my real feelings for now. I feel like Allah is actually testing me, somehow.

Dressing Up Needs Money

I totally DIG this type of type dressing up. My main focus: the pants. Thing is, it is SUPER HARD to find that type of pants of similar/exact colour. I already have two pairs, similar to the pants shown above, but one is dark blue, I bought from Blook a few months ago, and a beige one - not wide unough though. And I might consider buying a hijab of that colour though! ^^;

And one good news, Mak said I can make maxi dresses back in my hometown je. Yeay!!! I so adore maxi-dresses, tapi takut jugak, cuz it MAY make my hips and below look BIGGER. But I think it depends on the motif of the fabric, the colour AND most importantly, the design. I'm excited!! Beli kain pun kat Melaka kot, inshaAllah ^^;;;;;

Tapi semua ni kena tunggu ada duit lebih sikit. Next month, or maybe, April kot..ughhh!! Can't wait!

Saya yang Terlambat...

I am a new fan of Grey's Anatomy. A bit malu about it, though. Being the lambatest of them all. Most of my bestfriends are LOYAL fans of the American drama series since the 1st season. Owh well, all the same, I still get to watch the episodes, cuz, 'duhh.. it's recorded. I still get to watch how their hairstyles change every season, owh, and how one's head get to be bald even! Hahaha...

All I want to share with you is the truth that lies behind every message each episode brings. Indeed, I have experienced some of what the doctors did. And I'm sure most of you boys and girls out there did too. Most of the things I saw on this particular drama had already pass me, and I'm glad that some of the life-challenges I had faced in my life, similar to the contents of the episodes, I've gone through and passed gracefully. I mean, I passed all the life-tests God gave me. I did it. And I might say that I went through hell just to get through the tests, I passed. I just did it. Alhamdulillah.

Last night was my first journey through the drama's 6th season, where O'Malley died. And the story went on by telling how the team of doctors of Seattle Grace dealt with their grief, in their own way. And from that episode, I learnt that Grief comes in 5 stages. Everyone WILL go through all the 5 stages in their own way, one way or another. Those 5 stages are Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and finally, Acceptance. Aku rasa korang boleh eloborate sendirilah macamana setiap stage tu, mengikut cara korang. And to be truthful, I have just arrived at the final stage - Acceptance, after the long Depression period :)

Yup, I learned that I have to live and I will survive, somehow, one way or another. In the early stages of my grief, I felt so much pain, but at the back of my mind, I just KNOW that I WILL heal. A mutual friend of mine once told me that to feel sad/pain is normal, do not fake it, as we are humans and we are born with feelings. But the key is to keep on living. And from what I see, we will definitely be stronger once we keep on trying to live our lives.

Other reasons for me to love Grey's Anatomy are the couples in it. Hahaha.. I'm sorry, but I don't prefer the usual McDreamy, but I'm mad about Mark Sloan(McSteamy) and Lexie Grey (Little Grey), and also Izzie Stevens and her partner Alex Karev.

Their characters geniusly complement each other. Thanks to the brilliant scriptwriter. Oh well, dah ada kerja. I have to go now. Blog later! Toodles!

Aku teringin nak straightkan kening aku. Sebab aku rasa nampak weird and maybe, comel kot. Macam ni:

Hehehe.. Yela yela. Kening aku tak lebat.. cuma panjang je.. sampai ke hujung mata. So aku rasa aku aku bentuk, mesti aku nmpk elok la... Kot. Tapi aku selalu keliru. Boleh ke? Halal ke? Aku ni dah la banyak dosa. Suke-suke je nak tambah dosa lagi. Tapi aku tengok ramai je perempuan pakai tudung buat. Even ada ustazah yang cantas kening kasi nipis je macam satu line halus. Hahaha... So, aku pun buat la research. Nak pergi cari buku-buku tafsir kat library tak ada masa, jadi aku research online aje la. Skali aku jumpe ni daaaaaa....

Saw the book at MPH, One Utama as I went out for dinner with 2 of my colleagues. I bought this book eventhough I only had RM100 in my wallet, and a few wee ringgit in my bank account. I just couldn't resist of wanting to know what the book could offer me. And I got what I expected, and in some chapters, more than I could ever imagined.

This book has made me thank Allah to give me the chance to be born as a Malaysian Muslim. And to be grateful to have our 'kolot' or 'kampung' traditions or beliefs, and to grow up free to decide and think for myself. You will be so surprised as you roam through the pages of this book to find pious Arab men doing sins, so dirty you can never imagine they would do, and be calm about them, as everyone around them is doing the same. As if it is a culture, of some sort.

I regard reading this book as a travel to Saudi Arabia. So familiar yet so unknown, and I would say not only to me, but to the world over.

But I guess there MAY be exaggerations, as to make the book even more revealing and interesting to read. Wallahua'lam. Yet, it is a must-read for all wise Muslim women out there. But remember, and me reminding myself always, read and read a lot, but digest with iman.

Owh, the book costs RM35.90, but worth buying. Enjoy reading!

Alhamdulillah, I just finished my orientation/induction. Still have another 6 months of probation to go through. Tapi tag and parking tak settle lagi. Lepas lunch aku settlekan. Thank you all for your du'a and support, etc etc. I just hope I can cope through the 6 months probation. Lots of stuff to work on. Huhu. No worries! I'm a SUPER/WONDERWOMAN!! ehehe

Nak lunch, tapi takde duit banyak sgt. Patutnya puasa harini, tapi terbangun 7am. Shoots. Ape yang murah? Cafe food. Cuma kena tahan bau cafe yang tak ada proper air-ventilation. I just came back from HR office upstairs to hand-in the HR form to the beautiful-yet-stern-looking kakak. Asked her to check my form, if I've left anything important. Cleared, I received the letter to get my med-Checkup done. Sat lagi aku pegi. Berdebar la.. Jauhkan apa2 penyakit berbahaya. Kalau tak agreement tarik balik! Na'uzubillah...

Who Are You Calling Racist?

An increasing number of people are becoming more conscious about being politically correct these days, some more than others. The thing is most people, almost by instinct, would appear diplomatic and sensitive to in the company of their peers of a different race(s) (no doubt, there are still some folks who really don’t give a rat’s ass…) but what they are when at home, behind closed doors, so to speak, among family, relatives and friends of their same race, could be another matter all together. It’s quite natural for us to once in while let lose of certain inhibitions among people of our same race.

Let’s not kid ourselves. At some points of our childhood, there would be instances where parents, uncle, friend’s aunt or others would utter bigoted sentiments. Before we know it, we’ve developed preconceived perceptions of other races like: Malays are lazy (or, more like, we know how to relax and have fun), Chinese are greedy (or, instead, they have great capacity for survival and opportunism) and Caucasians are liberal (there are plenty of narrow-minded, conservative whites out there, believe me).

So what makes us a racist? Are we one if we laugh at racist jokes? If this is true than most, if not all, of us are sufferers of xenophobia.

A few years back, a friend of mine was in Sri Hartamas with his wife to get some DVDs. They happen to have some time in their hands and decided to try something out. Both are Kelantanese Malays though his wife looks Chinese and could speak fluent Mandarin as well as Cantonese (she happens to be very pretty too). So as their experiment went, the very Malay-looking husband went up to the stall first sans wifey. He decided on what he wanted and inquired about the price. The Chinese seller offered RM20 for three DVDs at which my friend said thanks and left. His wife was up next and she performed the same act but in Cantonese (initiated by the DVD seller) and got a better deal out of it. RM15 for five DVDs, to be exact…

A similar thing happened to my Malay-looking former boss who is Chinese only, in his case; durian was the article of trade. It just so happen that both he and the Malay durian seller were Penangites. What happened was the seller gave my ex boss a lower price after the latter let go his Penang dialect.

More recently, last week in fact, my two friends, a Chinese-looking Malay and a Chinese-looking, err Chinese, were on their way back to KL from Genting when they stumbled into a road block. A Malay female police officer asked my Malay friend, the driver, for his ID which he complied. She scrutinized his IC and actually acknowledged that she thought my Malay friend was Chinese and immediately set them off to my Chinese friend’s dismay. I mean, he can’t help but exclaim “What the hell did that mean? So if it was me driving I’d be harassed?”

Based on the three above incidents, could the DVD fella, durian seller and Malay police officer be considered as racialists? Or are they just looking out for their same kind? Even if they are facilitating their kin in their own way, would that be deemed ethical or more likely ethnical? As far as I know, we still are not sure of what draws the line of racism. Well, tell me if you know.

It’s a lot easier figuring out anyone who has admiration of people of other race(s). We can tell this by the way the other person talk or dress or her musical and movie preferences etc. For me, if a guy is a manga fan then he admires Japanese art and design; If he listens to a lot of reggae then he tend to think highly of Jamaican music and culture; If she uses skin-whitening products then she worships white people (I happen to reason that what makes a beautiful unblemished complexion is even tone, not a fairer one). The same can’t be said about determining whether one dislikes other races as most would not be as open as to revealing his or her discrimination to others, let alone to those he or she is or are racially prejudiced against.

To me, once we all can accept that we are all racists to a certain extent half the battle is won. Nothing is worse than a fraud who condemns racism in the open but then condemns other races behind closed doors among her or his own kind. Looking at it a more lighthearted perspective, it’s also quite healthy to have a laugh at each of our own racial stereotypes. A lot of people take themselves too seriously these days and forget to have a good laugh at themselves. But that’s my stereotypical fun-loving, laid-back Malay root talking…

Ban lifted on Sisters in Islam book

KUALA LUMPUR: The SIS Forum (Malaysia) succeeded in throwing out the Home Minister’s order banning its 215-page book, Muslim Women and the Challenges of Islamic Extremism.

High Court judge Justice Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof ruled that the book did not disturb public order.

Former Home Minister Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar had ordered the book banned two years after it had been in circulation.

On Dec 15 2008, SIS Forum applied for leave for a judicial review to quash the order banning the book, a compilation of essays based on research carried out by renowned international scholars and activists.

On Aug 26 last year, the court granted leave to challenge the banning of the book in an application that named Syed Hamid as the sole respondent.

His laywer had said Hamid Albar had the discretion to ban the book as the publication contradicted the guidelines of the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) and Islamic teachings.

He had added that the minister had acted in accordance with law in banning the book as it was prejudicial to public order, and that it tried to explain the Islamic teachings according to the writer’s own views which would confuse Muslims.- staronline

Aku tak faham. Kalau buku tersebut bertentangan dengan hukum-hakam Islam yang telah diluluskan oleh JAKIM dan ajaran Islam, kenapa masih lepas dari banned? Kalau buku tu boleh mencetuskan salah-faham dan kekeliruan kepada umat Islam (yang kurang ilmu dan nipis iman), kenapa masih dilepaskan oleh mahkamah? Kita ni negara Islam, tapi tak pertahankan agama yang dianuti. Kenapa aku masih tak faham dengan cara negara kita ni diurus? Asal soal agama, orang-orang beragama Islam mengalah. Habis tu kalau umat Islam dah confuse, depa nak pegang pada apa? Orang-orang SIS ni nak bagi fakta-fakta yang bertentangan dengan agama Islam, depa anut agama apa?

I am still handling fun challenges in my life. Yes people, my work. I am now being given the chance to play a more important role to the station in hopes I get a better salary and benefits, and the most crucial thing: New knowledge and experiences. No more staring straight at the computer for God-only-knows-how-many-hours long. Pray for my success ya? ^^;

Yes, I do sometimes hate being all alone without a man I can call my love. I'd be lying if say I'm all okay without one. But the truth is, being single is when I am really sober, when I can think straight, when I can drive my life safely towards one destination to another, slowly, steadily. It is the time when I can risk my own self and not including others in certain decision-makings.

Dramatic or not, positivity is key to a great life. Therefore I value and cherish everything I have right now, respecting them as what they are and carefully trying not to ruin anything. I am so blessed to have what I have now. Life is getting much better for me, and I pray there will be more great things to experience through-out 2010, amin.

I got to watch the most anticipated movie yang dah basi. Dah lama dah bercita-cita nak tengok movie ni, since zaman belajar lagi, tapi ada orang tu tak berapa minat tengok genre camni. Aku geram pagi tadi.

Aku tinggal berdua je nagn housemate aku sorang. Pastu dia selalu bawak bf/tunang/laki dia balik rumah, tido, tapi konon2 sorok la. Sorok pe jadahnye, malam2 gelak2 kuat dalam bilik sambil tengok tv, pastu kalau aku terjaga pukul 3-4 pagi nak pi toilet, dengar jantan tu berkeruh kuat gila, pastu pagi2 buat 'diversion' supaya tak terserempak dengan aku masa depa nak pegi keje.

Pagi tadi aku saje je berlegar-legar kat dapur, toilet, bilik aku lama-lama supaya diorang susah nak keluar bilik. Pastu akhirnya depa berjaya keluar bilik dan pergi kerja. Tapi aku sempat jenguk kat tingkap bilik aku, dan aku saje je bagi jantan tu nampak aku tengok dia. Rupanya jantan tu turun dulu, baru yang perempuan. Lepas tu aku rasa dia nampak aku nampak dia kat kereta dia, pastu dia jalan ke depan lagi supaya dapat tempat yang terlindung. Lepas tu yang perempuan tu turun lambat sikit. Dia pelik nape jantan tu berdiri jauh sangat dari kereta. Lepas tu perempuan tu pergi kat jantan tu, dan balik ke kereta jantan tu dan drive amek jantan tu kat mane-mane tempat dia nyorok.

Ape punye jantan tu?

Dan yang paling penting, apela aku nak buat????
Pening kepale aku. Pastu, terus terang aku rasa bila diorang pasang TV kuat-kuat tu diorang tgh buat tak senonoh. Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh....

My Dream Guy - after a series of new life experiences

Salam all,

It's been a while since I posted something sane and somewhat worth reading for my dear readers :) I have lots going on in my life, especially at the office, I can't get my brain to get to write on something specific. And since today is a very relaxing Sunday and I got excellent Internet access at my sister's house ^^ v, I think I could manage to write a paragraph or two... ^^;

Referring to the title above, yes, I must say that my entry entitled The Perfect Guy list I posted a few months ago was a bit immature and very emotional (in my opinion). I wasn't thinking deep enough, or maybe, sane enough at the time. I'm not saying that ALL of the contents of the previous blog entry are irrelevant. But I have seen more things, and with the help of my friends who are with strong faith, I am able to see the bigger picture, AND I hope my inner-visions will get wider as I go through life. Bak kata Kak Hazzy "Jauh laie perjalanan kito, babe..." ^^;; And with the help of the WorldWideWeb, IKIM radio I hear on the way home (cuz it always has good food-for-the-soul-stuff after Maghrib) and the morning shows on TV9 i.e. Tanyalah Ustaz and Muqaddimah, I am bound to think and take steps in life as wise as I could.

Okay, enough with the introduction already...

Below is my wish list of My Own ultimate Dream Guy:

Beriman - Most of all, I pray my other half, in any circumstances, is the one who performs the solat perfect; 5 times a day, and done better than mine. Solat will then lead to other good things in a Muslim. In all, he must be my example.
Berakhlak mulia - I pray that my other half is a good, honest and humble man everybody loves.
Berketurunan baik-baik - I pray he comes from a good family, with good faith in Islam, good education, rich or poor.
Berharta - Enough for us, and a little extra for the people in need.
Berilmu - Education is crucial. I pray that my other half is not only book-smart, but street-smart as well. Always open to learning new things. And I really hope his English is good - at least he knows what and how to use words like 'posh', 'faulty' etc.... (haha!)
Mampu memimpin dirinya, aku dan anak-anak kami - A good leader indeed.
Bertanggungjawab - I hope having faith and having good intentions will lead to a responsible other half, inshaAllah.
Berparas rupa sempurna - I pray he's perfectly healthy and fit and fine.
Cool - As in calm and cool and fun and cool ^^ - with a pinch of humor & creativity.
Sekufu - I pray my other half shares (mostly) the same thoughts and interests as I do and better. This is crucial as we both will be living together the rest of lives! - Here and the day after.
Passion - I pray that when my other half is educated, responsible and trustworthy, I really hope he has passions, e.g. passion on his career and other leisure stuff like soccer, arts, music, etc...(ni lebih kepada duniawi sket la. But i believe guys with passion are very interesting and creative ^^; )

That's about it. And for now, none of the guys I've met has this package. Most of them are cool and educated, yet lack in faith or religious education - sometimes they don't even know the simplest things/practice/rule in our religion due to the fact that they are NOT practicing. And those I've met WITH the package are mostly married. Haih~ Nevertheless, I still pray mine will come soon. Faith is all it takes.

And IF my other half has flaws... I don't really mind. It is all arranged by Him and I believe that everything happens for a reason. But still, praying for the best is a must. :)

I remembered being the most talkative, active, confident student ever since kindergarten, up to primary school, to secondary school and until my days of diploma. Trying to get my ass into everything; sports, competitions, being the 1st in class. Always wanting to prove that I can do better than anyone. Lively. Chirpy.

I've changed since before I graduated from my degree ( I guess). Suddenly everything changed. Went blank all of a sudden. I don't know how to make friends anymore, I don't talk much with people I don't really know, and because of this, people find me boring to be with. Unlike when I was in school, people fight to be friends with me (or so i guessed). Where did I get this sickness? A sickness of being the loner.

I'm also easy to being sad. And because I don't really know how to make friends, I am alone mostly in my life. And they say I'm easy target for bullies. Thank God for the Iternet.

Don't get me wrong but I make friends at the office. But people may find me quiet. Funny!!!!!! Where did that come from?

Listened to this one in Liy's car yesterday and the memories came running back. I've started listening to garbage since primary school (pengaruh adik-beradik).

Went to The Loaf and had a lovely, scrumptious time with Liy. YUMM!! Watched Jennifer's Body, which was crap, siapa2 yang datang dengan couple masing2 mungkin terangsang la lepas tengok movie tu, and Inglorious Basterds for the 2nd time :D. Got to understand more of the story after that ;)

Loved my time with Liy!! She opened my mind, reminded me of my own beautiful religion and we had a great laugh! A wholesome outing, I should say.

Saw these rocks first time when I read Reader's Digest Asia, October 2009 Issue. Nothing much to say. I just want to see these rocks for myself. They say they're not that huge, but what attracts me is the act of 'wedding' the rocks together, done to celebrate the union in marriage of a man and a woman. Some may say it's an act of foolishness. But I say it's a creative and harmony way of educating.

They say that the best time to see the rocks is at dawn during the summer, when the sun appears to rise between them. Mount Fuji is visible in the distance. At low tide the rocks are not separated by water.

Love to see them.

My name wasn't in the list of people in-charge of any of the booths at Suarasa Shah Alam last weekend, but I went anyway. I've never been to one before, and my intention was to come, experience and if they need my help, I'd be glad to do so.

The weather was great, all sunny and bright - which tanned my skin a wee bit. Huhu. I came late anyway. Around 12 noon or so. Hey, I wasn't supposed to be there, remember? Heee ^^,

I helped my colleague Faiz at his Kids booth. Cuz he really needed help. And around 6pm, they were ready for closing. We kemas-kemas everything and sat down, waited for the closing ceremony. Faiz went somewhere else, whilst I sat with another colleague, lets just name him A. We were chit chatting when he suddenly popped out a statement that triggered a conversation that changed my perception towards some people. Note that A is an avid clubber, drinker and yes, he is a Malay and Muslim.

A : Kalau Cik Yati nak tau, taste sebenar saya perempuan pakai tudung tau.

Me: Iye? Bagusla.

A : Cik Yati kenal kan SN? (SN is one of Malaysia's female TV celebrity with hijab yet very tight clothings. Very sexy and hot. I'm NOT kidding.)

Me: Kenal la.. Suka dia? Melepasla.. dia dah kawen.

A : Dia ex saya dulu.

Me: Yela tu. ( Maybe he's joking. No offence, but, this A guy is, I don't know... Doesn't resemble SN's taste. Cuz her hubby is very Arab looking-good looking,in a way, and A is an average Malay guy)

A: Sebelum dia kawen tu, saya dah 'kawen' dengan dia dulu. Kalau la saya dapat betul-betul kawen dengan dia, saya nak je tunjuk gambar-gambar masa kitorang sama-sama dulu. - And when he said those words he was looking straight at me, with serious eyes. I looked back at him and just said "Tak baik cakap merepek macam ni. Buat malu orang je", and he looked away saying "Cik Yati tak percaya..."

Betul atau tidak, wallahu a'lam. Tapi aku mohon kepada Allah supaya dijauhkan dari manusia-manusia yang suka buka aib orang, fitnah dan sebagainya. Kalaus sayang/suka, kenapa nak mengaibkan atau bagitau cerita-cerita betul'x betul yang memalukan? Na'uzubillah. Some people may find me very conservative, but in this specific matter, call me what you want. I cannot tolerate with people like A.

Maruah and harga diri tu penting. I pray hard I find a partner who loves me unconditionally, and protects me physically and most importantly my dignity and all my imperfections, like what Allah has summoned, yet complete me, and me hiding his imperfections and completing him in return. Amin.

Was walking with Shaz Canizy and Fara after lunch to find Shaz Canizy's friend's baby present when I stumbled upon this cutie Baby Tigger!! Boleh kelaurkan dia dari hunny vase tu! Ada ekor and little cute paws!! Awwwww...

I've ALWAYS loved Tigger. Masa sekolah-sekolah ada pencil case Tigger la, ada mug Tigger, ada pencil Tigger, pastu ade bantal Tigger! Tapi sayangye bantal Tigger tu dah bagi kat orang lain yang katenye sekarang ni letak kat tepi katil, atas lantai je. Bukan gune pon!!! Sad OK?! Kesian die!!!!! Bozo! Pastu dahla telinga Tigger tu koyak sikit! Aaaaaaaaa... Double-kesian!! Apela nasib Tigger bantal tu :( I pray HARD you get the love you really deserve Tigger ban. I didn't know it would end like that. But you know I love you unconditionally, just like my other bans. This is NO JOKE!. I love you Tigger ban! :((
